Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Secondary SEN Provision, Plymouth
Start Date: January 2025
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our secondary SEN provision in Plymouth. Starting in January 2025, this full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with Special Educational Needs in their educational journey. The ideal candidate will work closely with teaching staff to provide individual and group support, helping to create a positive, inclusive environment where each student feels valued and empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to secondary students with a range of SEN, adapting materials and activities to meet diverse needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and maintaining an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
  • Build positive relationships with students to foster engagement, self-esteem, and confidence.
  • Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor progress, adapting support as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of students’ achievements, challenges, and development.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and other professionals to support student learning and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary-age students with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • A valid driving license, access to a car, and business insurance are essential for occasional travel between sites.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
