Location: Secondary SEN Provision, West Park, Plymouth
Start Date: January 2025
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Job Description:
We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our secondary SEN provision located in the West Park area of Plymouth. This full-time role is available from January 2025 and offers the opportunity to support students with Special Educational Needs in a secondary school setting. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work closely with teaching staff and specialists to deliver individual and group support, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student can reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to secondary students with a variety of SEN, adapting activities and materials to individual needs.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and maintaining a supportive classroom environment.
- Build trusting relationships with students, encouraging confidence, engagement, and a positive self-image.
- Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor students' progress, adjusting support as needed.
- Keep accurate records of students’ development, achievements, and any challenges they face.
- Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic support for each student.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working with secondary-age students with SEN is highly desirable.
- Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting young people with additional needs.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
