Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Support Assistants to join our Plymouth team. In this role, you will provide individualized support to students with diverse educational needs, including those outlined in their Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). You’ll be working with students facing challenges such as ADHD, Autism, trauma, and other behavioural or emotional difficulties, helping them to feel supported and empowered within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide focused 1:1 assistance, adapting your approach to align with each student’s specific needs and learning goals.
- Use positive behaviour management techniques, trauma-informed practices, and de-escalation strategies to support students who may display challenging behaviours.
- Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other support staff to deliver individualized learning plans.
- Help foster a safe and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to engage positively with their education.
- Keep detailed records of student progress, challenges, and any incidents, sharing updates with the wider team as needed.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or vulnerable individuals with additional needs (experience in education, youth work, care, or social services is ideal).
- Familiarity with Autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and behaviour management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to working with young people.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding practices and commitment to promoting a safe learning space.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or Health & Social Care) are preferred, though not required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
