Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Secondary SEN School, Burnley
Start Date: September
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:34 AM - 3:30 PM

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to students with a range of special educational needs, both in the classroom and through personal care. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive learning environment tailored to each student's needs, ensuring they can thrive academically, socially, and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with their learning, providing one-on-one or small group support in various subjects.
  • Support with personal care tasks, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, ensuring the dignity and well-being of students at all times.
  • Help implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapt resources to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere within the classroom.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support the holistic development of each student.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Compassion, patience, and a strong commitment to supporting students' personal and academic development.
  • Ability to assist with personal care tasks, ensuring students' comfort and dignity.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to meeting the diverse needs of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
