Position: Full-Time, Temporary (for the full academic year)
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP

Pay: £12.90p/h

Are you an experienced Youth Worker with a passion for supporting young people facing barriers to learning? Do you have a knack for building strong relationships and a commitment to helping students thrive, despite challenging circumstances? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team at a Primary/Secondary Alternative Provision in Burnley. This role will focus on supporting pupils in the KS3 and KS4 department, helping them overcome their obstacles to education and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students in KS3 and KS4 who are experiencing challenges in their educational journey, including those with challenging behaviour.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of each pupil.
  • Develop and implement strategies and interventions to help students manage their behaviour and engage more effectively with their learning.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage their personal and academic growth.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each student’s development.

About You:

  • Significant experience working with young people in an educational or youth work setting, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong understanding of the issues faced by students in alternative provision and a proactive approach to overcoming these barriers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and effectively.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient personality, committed to making a positive difference in young people’s lives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently when required.
