Job Vacancy: SEMH Teacher – Southampton
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Position: SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
We are looking for a passionate, resilient, and committed SEMH Teacher to join a dedicated team in a specialist setting in Southampton. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with students facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges, helping them build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in education and beyond.
About the Role:

Teach students with SEMH needs in a supportive and structured environment.

Develop and deliver differentiated lessons to meet the individual needs of students.
-
Implement behaviour management strategies and provide emotional support to students.
-
Work closely with a team of support staff, SENCO, and other professionals to create and maintain individual education plans (IEPs).
-
Support students in managing their emotions, building resilience, and improving their social and academic skills.
-
Track and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to students and their families.
About You:
-
QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with experience in teaching students with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or alternative provision.

Experience in managing behaviour positively and implementing de-escalation techniques.
-
Ability to provide a calm, supportive, and consistent learning environment for students with complex needs.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals.

A passion for supporting young people to overcome their barriers to learning and fulfil their potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
