Maths Intervention Specialist – Full-Time Role in Denton, Tameside

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Maths Intervention Specialist to support an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This is a full-time position starting in December and continuing through the end of the academic year, with a potential to become a permanent role based on performance. Weekly pay ranges from £419.25 to £500.

Role Overview:

This position is ideal for a candidate passionate about helping students achieve their best in mathematics. As a Maths Intervention Specialist, you will work closely with students who may need additional support in maths, offering targeted intervention and academic assistance. You will be an integral part of the Maths Department, working alongside teaching staff to help close knowledge gaps and improve students' confidence in their maths skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Targeted Maths Interventions: Provide focused support for students who require additional help in maths, working either one-on-one or in small groups to address specific areas of need.
  • Collaborative Planning: Partner with maths teachers to design and deliver intervention sessions that complement the main curriculum, adapting content to align with each student’s learning goals.
  • Assessment and Progress Tracking: Regularly assess students’ understanding through diagnostic assessments and track progress to ensure intervention strategies are effective.
  • Support for Exam Preparation: Assist students in preparing for assessments, helping them practice key skills, develop exam techniques, and build confidence for GCSEs and other critical exams.
  • Resource Creation: Develop engaging and accessible learning resources that simplify complex maths concepts, helping students grasp challenging topics more effectively.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Use encouragement and positive reinforcement to motivate students, fostering a supportive environment that encourages a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Classroom Management Support: Help maintain a focused learning environment during interventions, setting clear expectations and encouraging productive study habits.
  • Feedback and Reporting: Provide feedback to students, teachers, and parents on progress and areas for further improvement, ensuring transparent and effective communication about student development.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Maths Specialisation: A degree in maths or a closely related field is essential.
  • Experience with Tutoring or Interventions: Prior experience in a tutoring, intervention, or similar role is highly desirable.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex mathematical ideas in a simple and relatable manner, tailored to each student’s learning style.
  • Organised and Efficient: Skilled in planning and implementing structured intervention sessions, with a proactive approach to supporting student success.
  • Team-Oriented: Willing to collaborate with colleagues to create a consistent support system for students.
  • Commitment to Student Achievement: Passionate about helping students overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential in mathematics.
  • Experience Working with Young People: Previous experience in an educational or mentoring setting is advantageous.
  • Safeguarding Awareness: A commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

  • Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
