Job description

Job Title: English and Maths KS3 SEMH Outreach Tutor

Location:

East of England, Essex, Brentwood

Job Type:

Temporary, Part-Time

£20 - £30 Per hour

Job Duties:

  • Deliver English and Maths tuition to Key Stage 3 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Create and implement individualised learning plans to meet the specific needs of each student
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
  • Provide academic support and guidance to help students achieve their educational goals
  • Collaborate with school staff and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student development

Required Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Specialist knowledge of teaching English and Maths at Key Stage 3 level
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education or related field

Experience:

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering tailored tuition to students with SEMH needs
  • Proven track record of improving student outcomes

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of SEMH and its impact on learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Special Educational Needs (SEN) or related field
  • Additional training in behaviour management techniques

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time hours, with flexibility required to meet student needs
  • Work in a learners home or community setting
  • Collaborative work with school staff, parents, and external support services

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
