Graduate Teaching Assistant – Psychology/Mental Health – SEMH Support
Location: Chorley
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Full-Time

Are you a recent Psychology or Mental Health graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in education? Do you have a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Chorley. This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, offering valuable experience for those considering a career in educational psychology, mental health support, or teaching.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement tailored learning strategies
  • Help manage challenging behaviours and support pupils’ emotional well-being
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Education, or a related field
  • A strong understanding of SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Confidence in building relationships with young people
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Previous experience in education, youth work, or mental health support is desirable but not essential
