Job Title: Experienced Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: SA8 Area

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our dedicated team at Teaching Personnel. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of working with students exhibiting challenging behaviour and will be committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners and helping them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a range of challenging behaviours in both individual and group settings.
  • Work closely with teachers to implement strategies and interventions tailored to meet the needs of each student.
  • Assist in the development of personalised learning plans and behaviour management strategies.
  • Encourage and support students in their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Foster a calm, respectful, and safe classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils to help them overcome personal and academic challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress, behaviour, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor and review students’ progress and adapt support as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a focus on working with students exhibiting challenging behaviour.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with children who may have additional needs or social/emotional challenges.
  • A relevant qualification in education or child development (e.g., CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ, or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a school setting with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Training in specific behaviour management frameworks (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA, etc.).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
