English Specialist Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and skilled English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This is a full-time role starting in March and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance.

About the Role:
This position is ideal for individuals with a strong background in English who are eager to support students in achieving their academic potential. As an English Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and staff to ensure that all learners develop confidence and proficiency in English language and literature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted support to students in English lessons, helping them engage with and understand key concepts in language and literature.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions to assist students in improving their reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to plan and implement strategies that address individual learning needs and improve outcomes.
  • Assist students in preparing for assessments, offering guidance on essay writing, exam techniques, and comprehension skills.
  • Help to create engaging and inclusive learning materials to support the English curriculum.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, contributing to evaluations and action plans to ensure sustained improvement.
  • Provide pastoral support to students, fostering a positive learning environment that promotes personal growth and resilience.
  • Promote enthusiasm for English through creative and inspiring approaches to the subject.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in English, English Literature, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and engage students effectively.
  • Have a passion for education and a commitment to helping students succeed in English.
  • Show patience, adaptability, and creativity in addressing diverse learning needs.
  • Be proactive in supporting students and collaborating with teaching staff.
  • Experience working with young people or in an educational setting is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
