About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Computing Teacher to join a highly regarded secondary school in Stockport. This is a full-time position starting in September to cover a long-term absence. The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence and is committed to providing an engaging and forward-thinking curriculum that prepares students for the digital world.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Computing lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, equipping students with essential skills in programming, digital literacy, and computational thinking.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging Computing lessons that inspire and challenge students.

  • Teach a range of topics, including programming (Python, Java, or similar), algorithms, networking, cyber security, and digital media.

  • Develop students' problem-solving and critical-thinking skills through hands-on learning and project-based work.

  • Assess, monitor, and provide feedback on student progress to ensure continuous development.

  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.

  • Promote the safe and responsible use of technology, in line with school policies.

  • Encourage students to explore careers in technology and participate in extracurricular activities, such as coding clubs or STEM initiatives.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Computing curriculum and share best practices.

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Computing at Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Strong subject knowledge, particularly in programming and emerging technologies.

  • Ability to create an inclusive and engaging learning environment.

  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • A passion for technology and innovation in education.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
