About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Computing Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, inclusivity, and preparing students for the modern digital world.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their computing knowledge and skills in areas such as programming, algorithms, networks, and cybersecurity. You will play a key role in fostering an interest in digital technology and preparing students for further study or careers in the computing and IT industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Computing and IT, aligned with the national curriculum.

  • Teach Computing to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, covering topics such as programming, data representation, cybersecurity, and networking.

  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of key concepts and practical applications.

  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage and support students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

  • Monitor student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to aid their development.

  • Create a stimulating and innovative learning environment that encourages students to think critically and problem-solve using technology.

  • Utilise various teaching methods, including coding exercises, project-based learning, and interactive resources, to enhance student understanding.

  • Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment with effective behaviour management strategies.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Computing and IT department to share resources, ideas, and best practices.

  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and strategies for improvement.

  • Keep up to date with advancements in Computing education and technology to continuously enhance lesson content.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Computing at Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Strong subject knowledge, particularly in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scratch.

  • Ability to deliver engaging lessons that develop students' computational thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
