About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Computing Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Stockport, Manchester. This is a full-time position starting after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school has a strong reputation for academic excellence, inclusivity, and preparing students for the modern digital world.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop their computing knowledge and skills in areas such as programming, algorithms, networks, and cybersecurity. You will play a key role in fostering an interest in digital technology and preparing students for further study or careers in the computing and IT industries.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Computing and IT, aligned with the national curriculum.

Teach Computing to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, covering topics such as programming, data representation, cybersecurity, and networking.

Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of key concepts and practical applications.

Use a range of teaching strategies to engage and support students of all abilities, including those with additional learning needs.

Monitor student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to aid their development.

Create a stimulating and innovative learning environment that encourages students to think critically and problem-solve using technology.

Utilise various teaching methods, including coding exercises, project-based learning, and interactive resources, to enhance student understanding.

Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment with effective behaviour management strategies.

Collaborate with colleagues in the Computing and IT department to share resources, ideas, and best practices.

Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding student progress and strategies for improvement.

Keep up to date with advancements in Computing education and technology to continuously enhance lesson content.
Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Experience teaching Computing at Key Stages 3 and 4.

Strong subject knowledge, particularly in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scratch.

Ability to deliver engaging lessons that develop students' computational thinking and problem-solving skills.

Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.

Strong communication and organisational skills.
