About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Computing Teacher to join a well-established secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position will commence after Easter to cover a long-term absence. The school is recognised for its inclusive environment, strong academic performance, and dedication to preparing students for the digital world.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering engaging Computing lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, equipping students with essential digital skills and a strong understanding of computer science concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Computing lessons that align with the national curriculum.
  • Teach Computing and Computer Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Cover topics such as programming, coding, algorithms, data structures, and cyber security, while integrating practical and theoretical learning.
  • Develop students’ understanding of key digital literacy concepts to support their learning and future career pathways.
  • Assess, track, and provide feedback on student progress to ensure all learners achieve their potential.
  • Design and deliver creative resources to enhance students’ practical coding skills.
  • Promote problem-solving, analytical thinking, and teamwork within lessons.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by engaging in department meetings and supporting extracurricular activities where possible.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Computing and/or Computer Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar.
  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit a range of learning abilities.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
