Behaviour Support Assistant



Do you have experience working with challenging behaviour and have a keen interest in supporting children in their education?

If yes, then this may be the role for you!

Teaching Personnel are working closely with the Headteacher of a secondary SEMH for children aged 11-16. The provision based in the Rawtenstall area. They require additional staff to provide 1:1 support for pupils with challenging behaviour. The setting provides support mostly for children who have social, emotional, or mental health difficulties. The staff encourage children to make the right choices and create a positive attitude towards learning.

Main duties
- Support learning both in and out of the classroom as directed to by the class teacher
- Support Individual behaviour plans
- Establish excellent working relationships with both pupils and staff
- Engage with pupils on a level to gain respect and trust
- Encourage children to interact and work co-operatively with others
- Support the children in engaging them in learning activities
- De-escalate high stress situations
- Use appropriate clarification, explanations, equipment and materials to support learning
- Promote the acceptance and inclusion of pupils within the classroom

  • Long-term, full-time role. Temporary to Permanent position for the successful applicant.
  • £12.90 – £13.50 p/h

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
