Teaching Personnel Bristol is currently seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant or "Behaviour Buddy", to support challenging students at a large Secondary school in Bristol. This is a full time long term role and would be incredibly rewarding for the right individual. The start date is 1st September and the role will be for a minimum of at least 1 school term. Due to the nature of this role it is likely to continue for the full academic year, with the opportunity for you to join the school directly pending a successful review.
Daily pay rate between GBP60 - GBP72 a day (dependant on experience)
You must be available to work Mon-Fri normal school hours (8.30-3.30)
Responsibilities of a Behaviour Buddy:
- Acting as a role model for students around the school.
- Providing 1:1 support and small group support for students who experience difficulties managing their behaviour.
- You will be working both in the class support and 1:1 interventions outside of the classroom.
- Working closely with the SENCO and Senior Leaders to assist pupils back into the classroom once they have regained management of their behaviour.
- Supporting teachers with the behavioural management of groups and individuals within the whole class setting, so that teaching objectives are met.
- Providing direction during social time and after school where directed
The School as rated by Ofsted is "Good" in every area. Staff at the school work closely together and support students to achieve the best they possibly can. Results at the school are above average for the borough and staff retention is good. This role has opened due to the need to support students after such a long period out of education due to Covid 19 lock down.
The ideal Behaviour Buddy:
The ideal candidate for a "Behaviour Buddy" role needs to have resilience in abundance, humour & the ability to use your initiative in challenging situations that may arise. Key characteristics of the ideal candidate for this school is anyone who has an interest in supporting challenging behaviour, psychology graduates and sports orientated candidates. You must also be extremely reliable as stability is incredibly important for the students you will be supporting, especially after such a long period out of school this year.
Previous experience supporting challenging students is desirable but not necessarily a requirement. If you think you have the ability to hit the ground running and learn on the job then we would like to hear from you!

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
