Are you passionate about supporting young people facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges? A secondary school in Tameside is looking for a Behaviour Mentor to work closely with students who require additional support to engage in education. This is an ideal role for those with experience in youth work, mentoring, psychology, or SEN support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for students struggling with behaviour, emotional well-being, and engagement in learning.

• Implement behaviour intervention strategies, working closely with the school’s Pastoral and SEN teams.

• Act as a positive role model, building trust and supporting students in developing self-regulation techniques.

• Work alongside teachers to minimise disruptions and ensure a positive classroom environment.

• Encourage students to re-engage with learning, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and self-discipline.

• Liaise with teachers, parents, and external agencies to create and maintain personalised support plans.

• Support students with de-escalation techniques and conflict resolution.

Requirements:

• Experience working with young people in education, mentoring, youth work, or social care.

• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

• A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.

• Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practices, and behaviour intervention strategies (training can be provided).

• An enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
