Behaviour Mentor – Tameside
A secondary school in Tameside is seeking an experienced Behaviour Mentor to support students with behavioural and emotional needs. The Behaviour Mentor will play a key role in helping students develop positive coping strategies, manage their emotions, and engage effectively in their education. This position is ideal for someone with a background in youth work, mentoring, psychology, or behaviour support, looking to make a positive difference in a school setting.
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Tameside
Salary: £90–£110 per day (dependent on experience)
Responsibilities:

Provide targeted behaviour support for students with challenging behaviours, helping them navigate their emotions and reduce disruptive conduct
-
Work 1:1 or with small groups of students to deliver interventions focused on social and emotional development, including anger management, conflict resolution, and building resilience

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to develop and implement behaviour intervention plans (BIPs) tailored to individual student needs

Build strong, positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model to guide them in making positive behavioural changes

Support students in managing their emotions both in the classroom and during break times, helping them stay focused on their learning

Help students understand their triggers and develop strategies to manage challenging behaviour in a constructive way

Monitor and track progress in students' behaviour, providing regular updates to teachers, parents, and school leaders

Support students’ reintegration into full-class settings after behavioural incidents, ensuring they feel supported and ready to re-engage with their learning

Act as a liaison between the school and external agencies, working collaboratively to support students' welfare
Requirements:

Previous experience working with young people, preferably in an educational, youth work, or mentoring context
-
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations

A proactive, positive approach to supporting students with behavioural or emotional difficulties
-
Experience in developing and implementing behaviour plans or interventions is highly desirable
-
A background in psychology, counselling, or education is beneficial but not essential
-
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, staff, and external professionals
-
Commitment to working collaboratively within a team of professionals to support the holistic needs of students

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
