Teaching Personnel are currently working with a school in Lancing who are seeking an Autism experienced Support Assistant to work with Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 pupils from September. The role is 1:1 and will see you supporting pupils in all of their classes throughout the day. You will work with other professionals in order to provide the best care and education for the students.
What you need to know about the school:
The school provides education to those pupils who have been permanently excluded from school and those who cannot attend their own schools for medical reasons.
They also support referrals for pupils at significant risk of permanent exclusion from school.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Plan and support a child with autism and help them reach their potential in a professional and caring manner
- Be reliable and punctual when working individually in the community or when part of a team and supporting colleagues to do their jobs
- Actively plan and join in play and youth activities including swimming, ball games, messy play and music
- Be prepared to communicate differently with a wide range of people
- Keep records and write reports when required
- Ensure the highest level of safety and safeguarding at all times
The Role:
- Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting assistants and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils.
- The role will operate between 8:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday.
- Full time is preferred but part time applicants may still apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
