Assistant Headteacher - Norwich

  • Under the overall direction of the Head Teacher play a major role:
    • in formulating the aims, objectives of the schools and establishing the policies through which they are to be achieved
    • be responsible for the standards and curriculum of all pupils including monitoring of progress towards achievement
    • proactively manage staff and resources
  • Take on the responsibilities of the Head Teacher as agreed and appropriate in the absence of the Head Teacher
  • To manage the day-to-day operation of the school in conjunction with the Head Teacher and other leaders
  • Carry out the professional duties of a teacher as required
  • Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school

Qualifications:

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Recent experience of working successfully as a senior or middle leader in a school.
  • Evidence of a whole school responsibility and experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice.
  • Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
  • A clear understanding of the essential qualities necessary for effective teaching and learning.
  • Up to date knowledge of statutory regulations and guidance relating to the post.
  • Demonstrate high quality teaching strategies.
  • Support, motivate and inspire both colleagues and pupils by leading through example.
  • Contribute effectively to the work of the headteacher and senior leadership team.
  • Deal successfully with situations that may include tackling difficult situations and conflict resolution.
  •  Work successfully with a range of external agencies.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
