Job Title: Experienced Supply ALN Support Assistant
Location: Llanelli
Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm (may differ slightly)
Salary: £89.38
About the Role:
Are you a compassionate, proactive, and experienced professional with a passion for supporting students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)? We are looking for a Supply ALN Support Assistant to join our dedicated team, where you’ll play a key role in fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
In this role, you will work closely with students with a variety of learning needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their potential. The ideal candidate will have experience managing challenging behaviours, including meltdowns, and be skilled in de-escalating difficult situations, ensuring a calm and safe space for students to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
- Use your expertise to effectively manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
- Support the emotional, social, and academic development of students, implementing individualized strategies and interventions.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and ALN coordinators to create and deliver personalized learning plans.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and families as necessary.
- Ensure students feel supported and motivated, encouraging their independence and confidence in their learning.
- Be an active participant in the broader ALN provision, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young adults with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including those with challenging behaviours.
- Strong knowledge and experience of de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies.
- Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with students, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Confidence to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- A calm, empathetic, and patient demeanour, even in stressful or challenging situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- A genuine passion for supporting students in their learning and personal development.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Special Educational Needs training, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 GCSE’s, including Maths and English
- Experience working with specific learning or behavioural strategies (e.g., autism, ADHD, emotional and social difficulties).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
