SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are currently working a school in the Sheffield area, who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Condition. The appointed individual will be required to work in the classroom environment, as well as in the school’s specialist Integrated Resource Base. You will be working with the student to support their reintegration back into the school environment, following a period of absence during the school closures. You will work alongside the SENCO, who will provide additional information and guidance on the role.

Daily Rate:

  • GBP66-80/Day

Start date:

  • May 2021

This is a full-time role, running up until the end of the academic year. We encourage you to apply if you have a minimum of 2 days availability, as there is an option for this to become a job share.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • It is essential that you have previous experience working with SEN and vulnerable individuals
  • You must have a calm but confident approach to managing challenging behaviour
  • You will be experienced working with the class teacher and SLT to ensure that all students experience an inclusive education

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Working 1:1 with an ASC student, supervising and providing academic, social, and pastoral support during lessons and at lunch time
  • Carefully scaffolding support to reintegrate the student back into the mainstream classroom following a period of absence
  • Utilising de-escalation strategies to manage behaviour and minimise classroom disruption
  • Working within the Integrated Support Base to offer support in other areas where necessary

All successful candidates will be required to fund a DBS certification on the update service. This involves a one-off payment of GBP40 followed by yearly payments of GBP13.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
