Learning Support Assistant – Horsham (Supporting Male Pupils with SEMH Needs)
Full-Time | Temp-to-Perm Opportunity | Immediate Start Available

We are seeking a passionate and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in Horsham, supporting male pupils aged 7–16 with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
This role involves working closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to help students overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support in and out of the classroom

  • Implementing tailored behaviour and emotional support plans

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, social skills, and academic engagement

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils who have experienced trauma or disrupted education

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential)

  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

  • Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
