We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to students in a thriving and supportive secondary school in Dorchester. This school is committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment and has a track record for providing tailored training to their support staff.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support to help them succeed academically and personally. You’ll help students overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve their goals. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and eager to make a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with varying needs, ensuring they can access the curriculum and engage fully in class.
  • Assist students with specific learning challenges, offering guidance and practical support to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment, promoting student well-being and confidence.
  • Collaborate with teachers to track student progress and implement tailored support strategies.
  • Encourage independent learning and help students develop essential academic and personal skills.
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure the best outcomes for each student.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and supporting their success.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to supporting students.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
