Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)
Location: Mainstream Primary School, Bournemouth
Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: March 2025

The Role:
Teaching Personnel is working with our school to recruit a passionate, committed, and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. You will provide 1:1 support for a Year 1 child with behavioural difficulties. The ideal candidate will be someone who is patient, empathetic, and motivated to make a real difference in a child’s educational journey.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure that the child receives the support they need to thrive in a mainstream setting. The role will involve:

  • Providing tailored support to a Year 1 child with behavioural challenges, helping them engage with lessons and develop positive behaviour strategies.
  • Assisting with social, emotional, and academic development in line with the child’s individual education plan (IEP).
  • Supporting the child in overcoming barriers to learning and promoting positive social interaction with peers.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt strategies as needed.
  • Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for the child at all times.

About You:
We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Has proven experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within a SEN context, supporting children with behavioural difficulties.
  • Has a deep understanding of child development and behaviour management techniques.
  • Holds relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and helping them succeed.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
  • Has excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Is able to work creatively and flexibly to meet the needs of the child.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
