Job description

1-1 Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision (Wirral)

Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them reach their full potential? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1-1 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist alternative provision in the Wirral.

The Role

This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to provide individualised support to a student within a specialist setting. You will play a key role in helping the student overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and engage with their education. For the right candidate, there is potential for a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong and trusting relationship with the student, creating a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Provide personalised academic and emotional support to help the student re-engage with education.
  • Work closely with staff and external professionals to ensure a consistent and tailored approach.
  • Encourage and motivate the student, helping them progress both academically and personally.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have prior experience working in an alternative provision setting (essential).
  • Be patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships with young people.
  • Have experience supporting students with SEMH or additional needs.
  • Be committed to providing a nurturing and structured learning environment.
  • Work well within a team, contributing to a positive and collaborative school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
