Psychology Graduate – Learning Support Assistant (Alternative Provision) – Full-Time – Liverpool

Are you a Psychology graduate looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people? A specialist Alternative Provision school in Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and compassionate graduate to support students who have struggled in mainstream education. This is a full-time role with the potential to become permanent, ideal for someone passionate about working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with students who have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), providing essential support to help them achieve their full potential. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering 1:1 and small group support to engage students in their learning.
  • Building trusting relationships with pupils who have found it difficult to settle in mainstream schools.
  • Supporting students in managing their emotions and behaviour through a trauma-informed approach.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to create a structured and positive learning environment.
  • Encouraging resilience, confidence, and motivation to help students overcome barriers to learning.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • A strong interest in special educational needs, SEMH, and behaviour support.
  • The ability to remain calm and patient when working with students who display challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
