Supply Teaching Assistant (SEN) - Newton Abbot

We are looking for dedicated Supply Teaching Assistants to work across SEN schools in Newton Abbot, helping children with a variety of learning and developmental needs. This role offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, with the potential to secure a permanent position through Teaching Personnel.
Role Overview:
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting children with a range of additional needs, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) – assisting with communication, sensory regulation, and structured learning.
- Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN) – supporting verbal and non-verbal communication through alternative communication methods.
- Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs – helping students develop confidence, emotional resilience, and positive behavior strategies.
- Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) – providing tailored support with daily routines, mobility, and specialist learning approaches.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the class teacher with planning and delivering engaging lessons.
- Providing 1:1 support and small group interventions.
- Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet student needs.
- Using a range of specialist resources, such as visual aids, sensory tools, and Makaton/PECS (where applicable).
- Helping to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.

- Previous childcare or education experience (essential).
- Experience working with children with SEN (preferred but not essential).
- A compassionate, adaptable, and patient approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
