Teaching Assistant (September Start) - Special Needs 1:1

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (or Higher Level Teaching Assistant) with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to join our team at Teaching Personnel.

Our school is located in Bolton (BL2) and is committed to providing equal life opportunities for all students by empowering them to take control of their lives. We offer individualised learning programs tailored to meet the unique needs and aspirations of our students.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will work within our SEN provision, supporting students' day-to-day activities and delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences through 1:1 and small group tutoring.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication and Social Development: Foster an inclusive and supportive environment by promoting effective communication and social skills. Encourage students to express themselves, actively listen, and engage with peers and staff, developing their confidence and social understanding.

  • Support and Guidance: Provide individualised support and guidance to students in their educational and personal development, fostering independence, confidence, and self-advocacy skills.

  • Transition to Adulthood: Assist students in their transition to adulthood by facilitating opportunities for community engagement, work experience, and leisure activities. Support students in developing life skills necessary for independent living and active community participation.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that address students' academic and social needs.

  • Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of students. Help maintain an inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and interaction.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Previous experience in childcare, essential. Experience working in a SEN setting is desirable.

  • Skills: Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the holistic development of students with diverse needs. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

  • Qualifications: Eligible for an enhanced DBS disclosure check.

Additional Information:

  • Schedule: This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday.
  • Compensation: Pay is dependent on experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
