Job description

Senior LSA.

We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Senior Learning Assistant with experience in working with children and/or adults who have Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs for a Farnborough-based education facility. 

The successful candidate will need to have a passion for supporting students’ mental health, and assist with creating a nurturing learning environment. The successful TA will be working closely with staff and students in order to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges they may have.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on coping strategies, emotional regulation, and self-care techniques.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
  • Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers regarding this.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
  • Support teacher in managing the behaviour and specialist needs of the young people.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE’s/ Level 2 Equivalent in Mathematics.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting. We will also consider those with experience supporting adults with similar needs.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.

School staff will be working term time, from 08:30 – 15:30. Both part time and full-time applicants are welcome to apply. This role will involve working with young people from 9 to 16 years old with special educational needs who can demonstrate challenging behaviours and verbal abuse. These roles will be based in the Farnborough area of Hampshire.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
