Job description

Learning Support Assistant

Full-time Learning Support Assistant required for a Catholic High School in Wigan, starting immediately in Easter 2025.

The Learning Support Assistant position is ideal for graduates and experienced Teaching Assistants looking to pursue a career in education. This role is highly rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a positive impact on students' learning and progress in school.

  • Full-time Learning Support Assistant – immediate start in Easter 2025.
  • Supporting students who require additional guidance during lessons.
  • Pay commensurate with prior experience (Up to £100 per day)
  • Temp to perm possibility

The school is seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their Support team as they return from their new build. Senior leaders at the school have identified the need for additional Learning Support Assistants following a recent review of the progress of students who enrolled at the school this academic year.

The role involves:

  • Working with students on a 1:1 basis to support them in core subject areas.
  • Conducting small intervention classes with students who are not meeting expected progress levels.
  • Assisting in managing individual student behaviour to ensure they remain on task and focused during lessons.
  • Collaborating closely with Heads of Department and class teachers to ensure students are consistently improving and working toward their progress targets.

Our client school is of the Catholic faith and is located in Wigan. The school has approximately 1000 pupils enrolled, which is larger than the average school in the area, and it received a 'Good' rating in its most recent Ofsted report. The school is situated in the Standish area of Wigan and boasts excellent public transport links to Wigan town centre.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
