SEN Teaching Assistant – Tameside – September Start

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Tameside to recruit a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This full-time role is due to start in September and offers the opportunity to support students with special educational needs in a welcoming and inclusive school environment.

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Start Date: September
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term
Daily Pay: £85 – £100 (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing 1:1 or small group support for students with EHCPs or additional learning needs.

• Assisting with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).

• Supporting students in class across a range of subjects, ensuring they are engaged and accessing learning.

• Working closely with the school’s SENCO and teaching staff to adapt resources and strategies to support learning.

• Encouraging independence, confidence, and progress in learners.

• Helping to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (e.g., autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH).

• A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• A desire to make a real difference in pupils' educational journeys.

• Relevant qualifications or training in SEN (desirable but not essential).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
