Future Teachers Programme – Graduate Internship (History Teacher)

Are you a History graduate looking to begin a career in secondary education? Teaching Personnel’s Future Teachers Graduate Scheme offers a paid, school-based internship, providing you with hands-on experience before progressing to teacher training.

About the Programme

This 12-month internship is designed for graduates who are passionate about teaching and eager to gain classroom experience before enrolling in a PGCE or Initial Teacher Training (ITT) programme. You’ll work full-time in a secondary school as a Cover Supervisor, developing essential skills and confidence in a supportive learning environment.

Programme Details:

  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Location: Secondary schools across Greater Manchester (Manchester, Stockport, Salford, Trafford, Bury, Bolton, Rochdale, and Oldham)
  • Eligibility: Open to graduates with a degree in History or a related Humanities subject who are considering a career in teaching.

Your Role as a Future Teacher:

As part of the Future Teachers Programme, you’ll gain first-hand classroom experience, supporting both students and teachers in the History department. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with lesson planning, preparation, and classroom management.
  • Supporting students through small group sessions and one-on-one tuition.
  • Covering classes and helping to improve pupil attainment.
  • Developing subject knowledge and gaining valuable teaching experience.

This programme provides a structured pathway into teaching, giving you insight into the profession while enhancing your skills.

Who Can Apply?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated graduates who:

  • Have completed their degree by August 2025.
  • Are passionate about secondary education and eager to pursue a teaching career.
  • Can commit to the full-time internship (Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 3:00pm) from September 2025 to July 2026.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
