Job description

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special needs? Do you have a caring and patient nature, and want to support children in their educational journey? We are looking for a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team in Southampton.

Role: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Southampton
Contract: Full-time/Part-time options available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children with a range of special needs, including physical, emotional, and learning difficulties.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support in the classroom.
  • Assist with personal care, if required.
  • Help create an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Promote the emotional and social development of students.

Key Requirements:

  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children.
  • Experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, reliability, and the ability to work well in a team.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
