Job description

Wanting to make a real difference to the lives of children living with Special Educational Needs?

An opportunity has opened for a Teaching Assistant in a SEN provision in Salford. The pupils are of secondary age (11-18) with specialised needs including Autism, physical disabilities and other complex learning / PMLD needs meaning that students are working at a much lower level than in mainstream education and with class size reduced.

Your role will be to lead classes in basic themed topics as well as more specific communication and life skills. Lessons are designed to be fun and activity based, placing focus on supporting each individuals needs, building confidence and providing practical skills. The school also offers vocational courses which will equip students with skills to support them through life and employment. All students in the centre have an Educational Healthcare Plan which is the key focus for learning and drives their personalised curriculum. You will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons for small classes of children with profound, multiple and severe learning, health and care needs. This is a great opportunity for qualified teachers to enhance personal development by gaining experience in a specialist setting!

To work as a Special Educational Needs Teacher, you will ideally hold QTS or QTLS or have relevant experience as a teacher. Solid experience working with vulnerable children is beneficial, but we want to hear from ALL teachers. If you are interested in a teaching approach that is holistic and therapeutic but doesn't necessarily have this experience yet, please still enquire.
