Full-Time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)

Location: Crosby, Sefton

Salary: £83-93 per day

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Start Date: 30.09.24

Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of a primary school in Crosby, Sefton, to source a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The role involves providing tailored support to a child with complex needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with complex needs, adapting learning activities and resources to meet their individual requirements.
  • Implement personalised strategies and interventions, following guidance from the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment, promoting the child’s social, emotional, and educational development.
  • Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents/carers.
  • Assist with personal care and physical needs, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety at all times.
  • Support inclusion in the classroom and during playtimes, helping the child engage with peers and participate in school activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or adults with SEN, ideally with complex needs.
  • Understanding of strategies for supporting children with communication, sensory, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and caring approach.
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, taking initiative and adapting to the child’s changing needs.
  • A commitment to promoting the child’s independence and wellbeing.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
  • Experience in using visual supports, PECS, Makaton, or similar communication aids.
  • First Aid and/or Manual Handling training.
