SEMH Teaching Assistant – Full-Time in Wilmslow
Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to work at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Wilmslow. This full-time position begins in October and will run until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience.
Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with students who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your role will be to support these students both academically and emotionally, helping them overcome barriers to learning and providing them with the tools to succeed in the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing one-to-one or small group support for students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their learning and manage their emotions in a constructive way.
- Assisting class teachers in differentiating lessons to ensure that all students can access the curriculum, regardless of their SEMH challenges.
- Developing strong, trusting relationships with students to foster a safe and supportive learning atmosphere.
- Supporting students with behavior management, helping them regulate their emotions and improving their ability to focus and participate in lessons.
- Working with the school’s SENCO and pastoral team to implement individual support plans tailored to students' specific needs.
- Offering emotional support and providing coping strategies to help students manage anxiety, stress, or behavioral challenges.
- Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to staff to ensure that support is effective and that any necessary adjustments are made.

- Has previous experience working with students with SEMH needs, either in a classroom or pastoral setting.
- Is patient, empathetic, and committed to making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
- Can manage challenging behavior effectively, using a calm and constructive approach.
- Is a team player who can collaborate with teachers, support staff, and the wider school community to provide the best outcomes for students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
