English Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Wilmslow

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position starting in October, running until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of the role being made permanent depending on performance.

Position Details:

  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week, depending on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

As an English Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their full potential in English. Key duties include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students who may be struggling with English, helping them to develop key skills in reading, writing, and comprehension
  • Assisting the classroom teacher with lesson preparation, delivery, and ensuring all students remain engaged and challenged
  • Supporting students with GCSE English exam preparation, offering targeted interventions and revision sessions to improve their performance
  • Helping to create differentiated resources that cater to students with varying abilities and learning needs
  • Collaborating with the English department to identify students needing additional support and tailoring interventions to address individual needs
  • Tracking and reporting on student progress, working with the teacher to adapt teaching strategies to suit the class or individual pupils
  • Assisting in maintaining a positive learning environment, encouraging students to develop a love for reading and literature
  • Supporting classroom management to ensure students remain focused and productive during lessons
  • Providing pastoral support to students, helping them build confidence and overcome any challenges in their English studies
  • Engaging in school-wide literacy initiatives and extra-curricular activities related to English, including book clubs, writing workshops, and more

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong background in English, ideally with a degree or equivalent qualification in English or a related subject
  • A passion for the English language and literature, with the ability to inspire students and encourage them to improve their literacy skills
  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in an educational setting or tutoring role
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas and concepts to help students understand and engage with the subject
  • A proactive and flexible approach, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • A keen interest in pursuing a career in education or teaching is highly desirable

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
