Humanities Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Wilmslow

Teaching Personnel is seeking a passionate and dedicated Humanities Specialist Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Wilmslow. This is a full-time position, starting in October and running until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role based on performance.

Position Details:

  • Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week, dependent on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

As a Humanities Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Humanities department, helping students to succeed in subjects such as History, Geography, and Religious Studies. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons across a range of Humanities subjects, ensuring that students of all abilities remain challenged and motivated
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students, particularly those who may be struggling with specific topics or coursework
  • Supporting students in developing critical thinking and analytical skills, helping them to engage more deeply with Humanities content
  • Offering targeted intervention sessions to students preparing for their GCSE exams in Humanities subjects, helping them revise key topics and improve exam techniques
  • Assisting with the creation and implementation of lesson plans, learning materials, and classroom resources that cater to different learning styles and needs
  • Helping to manage classroom behavior, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for all students
  • Working closely with teachers to identify students requiring additional support, tailoring interventions to meet their specific academic needs
  • Monitoring and reporting on student progress, providing feedback to both students and teachers to ensure consistent improvement
  • Supporting with school-wide activities and projects related to the Humanities, such as field trips, research projects, and other extra-curricular opportunities
  • Providing pastoral support to students, building strong relationships and helping them to overcome any challenges they may face in their academic journey

What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in a Humanities-related subject such as History, Geography, Politics, or Religious Studies
  • A strong passion for the Humanities and a desire to inspire students to explore these subjects in depth
  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a classroom or educational support role
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students and simplify complex topics
  • A proactive, flexible approach with the ability to adapt to the needs of the department and students
  • An interest in pursuing a career in education or teaching would be advantageous

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
