Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant (Psychology Graduate Preferred)

Salary: £85-£100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Tameside. This is an ideal role for a Psychology graduate who is passionate about supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them develop emotional regulation skills, and facilitating their learning and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH, ensuring their engagement and progress in the classroom.
• Implementing strategies and interventions tailored to individual students' needs to support their emotional and social development.
• Assisting the class teacher in managing challenging behavior and promoting positive outcomes for students.
• Supporting students in their academic tasks while also focusing on building self-confidence and emotional resilience.
• Working closely with the school’s SENCO and other professionals to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

What We’re Looking For:

• A Psychology degree (or equivalent) with an interest in SEMH and supporting students with additional needs.
• Experience or a strong understanding of SEMH, and the ability to build strong, positive relationships with students.
• Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to helping students manage emotional challenges.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external support services.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
