Job Overview:
An ambitious secondary school in Hampshire is looking for a talented and committed Second in Science and Technology to support the development of its Science and Technology department. As Second in Department, you will work closely with the Head of Department to maintain the high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring that all students thrive in their scientific and technological education.

The school, recently praised in its Ofsted report, was commended for its strong focus on personal development, safeguarding, and a culture of high expectations. Inspectors noted that students are well-behaved, engaged in their learning, and benefit from a broad, balanced curriculum. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Science and Technology in leading the department and ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all year groups.
  • Help drive curriculum innovation and the use of new technologies in teaching.
  • Mentor and support other teachers in the department to develop their teaching skills and improve student outcomes.
  • Teach science and technology subjects, fostering curiosity and enthusiasm for the subject.
  • Monitor students' progress, implement effective interventions, and ensure that all students achieve their potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to deliver cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Uphold the school’s high expectations for student behaviour and academic excellence.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is required.
  • Proven experience teaching science and/or technology, with leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • A passion for science and technology with a commitment to continuous improvement.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
