Are you an accomplished and fully qualified Science teacher with extensive experience teaching in UK schools? Schools across the Fareham and Portsmouth areas are in need of dedicated and experienced Science teachers to join their teams on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your expertise to a supportive and thriving school environment where your passion for science will inspire the next generation of learners.

The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality science education across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 for those with relevant experience. You will join dedicated science departments committed to excellence, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to excel academically and beyond.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging, dynamic, and well-structured science lessons tailored to the needs of diverse learners.
  • Curriculum Coverage: Teach a range of science subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring lessons align with the national curriculum and school expectations.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through tests, assignments, and practical experiments, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and motivated to participate actively.
  • Practical Demonstrations: Organise and conduct practical experiments and demonstrations to deepen students' understanding and engagement with scientific concepts.
  • Student Support: Identify and address the individual needs of students, providing additional support or challenges as required.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues within the science department to share resources, ideas, and best practices.
  • Professional Development: Engage in training and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with advancements in science education.
  • Parent and Carer Communication: Maintain effective communication with parents and carers to discuss student progress, concerns, and achievements.
  • Contribution to School Life: Participate in extracurricular activities, science fairs, and other events that enhance the school’s science offering and inspire students further.

 

Expectations of the Desired Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Qualifications:
    • Fully Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    • A degree in a science-related subject.
  • Experience:
    • Extensive teaching experience in UK secondary schools, with a proven track record of success in delivering high-quality science education.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Exceptional knowledge of the science curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and (preferably) Key Stage 5.
    • Strong ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging.
    • Effective classroom management and behaviour management skills.
    • Confidence in conducting practical experiments and ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
    • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • A genuine passion for science and inspiring students to achieve their potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
