Science Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Teaching Personnel is seeking a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time position, starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent depending on performance.
Role Overview
This position is ideal for a recent science graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching, tutoring, or educational support. The successful candidate will work with students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, supporting their learning in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
The role involves working closely with teachers and students, helping to deliver engaging science lessons, providing one-to-one and small group support, and assisting in practical demonstrations. This is an excellent opportunity to develop hands-on experience in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students in science lessons, reinforcing key concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Assisting with GCSE science preparation, helping students with exam techniques, revision strategies, and understanding complex topics.

Providing one-to-one and small group intervention sessions, targeting students who need additional support.

Assisting teachers with lesson planning and resource preparation, including setting up practical experiments.

Helping to maintain a safe and structured laboratory environment, ensuring all safety procedures are followed during experiments.

Encouraging student engagement and curiosity in science through interactive activities and discussions.

Monitoring student progress and reporting feedback to teachers, helping to tailor learning strategies to individual needs.

Supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or those with English as an Additional Language (EAL) to ensure inclusive learning.

Acting as a role model and mentor, providing academic and pastoral support to students where necessary.
Candidate Requirements:

A degree in a science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field).

A strong understanding of the secondary school science curriculum.

A passion for science education, with the ability to inspire and engage students.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

A patient and adaptable approach to supporting students with different learning needs.

Some experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, voluntary work) is desirable but not essential.

A proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards learning and classroom support.
Salary & Benefits:

Weekly pay between £446.90 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
