Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time in Bramhall
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Bramhall. This is a full-time role starting in October and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent position depending on performance. The role offers a competitive pay range of £419.25 to £500 per week.
Role Overview:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and pastoral staff to provide targeted academic and emotional support to students. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Psychology looking to gain hands-on experience in a school setting, particularly those considering a future in educational psychology, teaching, or child mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students, particularly those with emotional, social, and behavioural challenges
- Assist in creating tailored learning interventions for students with specific needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties
- Collaborate with teachers and the SEN department to adapt learning materials and ensure students can access the curriculum
- Use your knowledge of psychology to develop strategies to support students’ mental health and emotional well-being
- Help with behaviour management in the classroom, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and support staff
- Work with the pastoral team to support students facing personal or emotional challenges, contributing to their overall development
- Support in the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students requiring additional learning assistance
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of extra-curricular activities that promote mental health and well-being
Candidate Requirements:
- A degree in Psychology or a related field is essential
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff
- A passion for supporting young people and a desire to help them achieve their potential
- An understanding of how psychological principles can be applied to support student learning and behaviour
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting is desirable but not required
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
