Job Advertisement: Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position begins in January and runs until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.

About the Role:
As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the Maths Department to enhance student learning and achievement. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Maths graduate to gain valuable experience in a school setting, particularly for those considering a career in teaching or education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students to provide targeted one-to-one or small-group support, helping them grasp complex mathematical concepts and build confidence in their abilities.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging Maths lessons that cater to varying levels of ability and learning needs.
  • Support students in preparing for key assessments, including GCSE exams, by guiding them through practice questions, revision techniques, and study strategies.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers to inform lesson planning and interventions.
  • Contribute to classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and active participation in lessons.
  • Help develop and prepare teaching resources and materials to aid student understanding.
  • Support extracurricular Maths activities and initiatives to inspire a love for the subject among students.

This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on students’ academic journeys while gaining practical experience in a supportive educational environment.

What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Demonstrate a strong passion for Maths and a commitment to helping students succeed.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Be patient, proactive, and adaptable in addressing the diverse needs of students.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education.
  • Be available to work full-time from January to the end of the academic year.

While previous experience working with young people is desirable, it is not essential, as full training and ongoing support will be provided.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
