Job summary

Main purpose of the job:

The role of the Pastoral Lead is to assist in provision for pupils’ wellbeing and provide support in tackling poor behaviour and lack of participation by working in partnership with staff, families/carers, professionals and pupils in a school context. Monitoring, support for pupils and staff and working with families to improve school pupils’ behaviour and wellbeing is fundamental in this role. The Pastoral Lead, in partnership with the line managers and class teachers, will also ensure the most disadvantaged pupils have full access to the educational and extended school opportunities we have to offer and to help them overcome barriers to learning and participation.

The Pastoral Lead works under the direction and control of the Headteacher and the Inclusion Manager. The Pastoral Lead will be expected to work under less direct supervision and independently manage behaviour incidents, plan and deliver activities and work with families, staff and external agencies.

The School

The Provision is an independent education provision, registered with Ofsted with 'Good' rating, to educate students aged 6 to 16 years and able to offer placements to both residential and day students.

Their highly-trained staff are experienced in working with young people with a variety of educational needs including dyslexia, autistic spectrum, ADHD and BESD and employ effective behavioural management techniques. Where necessary staff offer one-to-one classroom support and provide individualised educational programs. We also support students in their transition to college and, in gaining work experience placements in Years 10 and 11.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
