Job Title: Outdoor Education Support Assistant (SEN Provision)
Location: South Brent, Devon
Start Date: January 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time / Term-Time
Salary: £18,000 - £21,000 per annum (depending on experience)

We are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for an Outdoor Education Support Assistant to join our dedicated team at an SEN provision in South Brent. This role combines the benefits of working in an outdoor environment with the rewarding experience of supporting students with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in delivering tailored outdoor education programs designed to support students with special educational needs, including those with autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
  • Support students in a variety of outdoor activities such as nature walks, team-building exercises, and practical outdoor skills, helping to build their confidence, independence, and social skills.
  • Work closely with the SEN team to ensure the individual needs of each student are met in both outdoor and classroom-based learning.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support, adapting activities to suit varying ability levels.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and structured outdoor environment, ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed during outdoor activities.
  • Monitor and record student progress, feeding back to teaching staff and the SENCo, and contributing to the planning of future sessions.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a passion for the outdoors and experience in outdoor education, forest school, or similar activities.
  • Be empathetic, patient, and enthusiastic, with a genuine interest in supporting SEN students in their personal and educational development.
  • Be physically fit and comfortable working in all weather conditions.
  • Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or educational setting.
  • Be able to work well as part of a team, with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A relevant qualification in outdoor education, SEN support, or teaching assistance would be an advantage, though not essential.
