Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maths Teacher to cover a maternity leave at a well-regarded secondary school in Dukinfield, Tameside. This full-time position is set to begin in January and offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality mathematical education within an inclusive and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Maths at Key Stages 3 and 4: Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cover core mathematical concepts, providing a solid foundation and fostering students’ numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Curriculum Development: Design lesson plans that meet curriculum standards, using diverse resources and teaching strategies to cater to varying student learning styles and abilities.
  • Student Assessment and Feedback: Conduct regular assessments to track and report student progress, offering constructive feedback that promotes growth and understanding of complex concepts.
  • Exam Preparation: Support students in preparing for GCSE Maths exams, including targeted revision sessions, practice assessments, and strategies to enhance exam confidence.
  • Classroom Management: Foster a structured and positive classroom environment where students are encouraged to participate actively, think critically, and engage with challenging content.
  • Problem-Solving Focus: Promote a practical approach to mathematics by teaching problem-solving skills, application of theory to real-world situations, and encouraging mathematical reasoning.
  • Parental Engagement: Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and collaborating to support learning goals.
  • Collaborative Departmental Planning: Work closely with colleagues in the Maths Department, contributing to shared resources and participating in department meetings to ensure cohesion and support across the curriculum.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Mathematics or a related field, with a solid background in teaching at the secondary level.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Maths at Key Stages 3 and 4, with familiarity with the current curriculum and GCSE requirements.
  • Engaging Educator: Strong ability to make complex mathematical concepts accessible and engaging, inspiring confidence and a positive attitude towards Maths.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to plan and balance lesson delivery, marking, and assessment effectively within a busy school environment.
  • Collaborative Mindset: Team-oriented with a willingness to share strategies and resources, supporting colleagues within the Maths Department.
