Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a skilled and dedicated Maths Teacher to join an Ofsted-rated Good secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This full-time position, starting in January, is to cover a maternity leave, offering a fantastic opportunity to work within a respected school environment known for its supportive culture and commitment to educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching Key Stages 3 and 4: Deliver engaging and structured lessons in mathematics that cover the national curriculum and promote deep understanding in topics such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and probability.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Plan and adapt lessons to meet the needs of a diverse range of students, ensuring that all learners are appropriately challenged and supported.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor students' progress through homework, classwork, and exams. Use assessment data to adjust teaching approaches and provide targeted interventions when necessary.
  • Exam Preparation: Prepare Key Stage 4 students for their GCSE exams, focusing on exam techniques, problem-solving skills, and comprehensive revision sessions.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a positive, encouraging classroom environment that builds confidence, curiosity, and a love for mathematics. Implement interactive and hands-on learning activities that relate mathematics to real-life situations.
  • Classroom Management: Uphold strong classroom management practices that promote focus, discipline, and mutual respect among students.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside the Maths department to align on curriculum objectives, share resources, and participate in regular planning and department meetings.
  • Parental Communication: Keep parents informed of student progress, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for additional support outside of school.
  • Professional Development: Take part in training and professional development opportunities offered by the school and Teaching Personnel to continually refine and enhance teaching practices.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Experience: Experience teaching maths at the secondary level, with familiarity with the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Passion for Teaching: A genuine enthusiasm for mathematics and the ability to inspire students to develop a positive attitude toward the subject.
  • Commitment to Student Growth: Strong focus on enabling each student to reach their potential, preparing them with the skills needed for academic and personal success.
