Exciting Opportunity to Support Pupils with Additional Needs in a Primary School in Southampton.
Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join a welcoming primary school in Southampton supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This rewarding position offers the chance to make a significant impact on young learners’ lives while working in a supportive and inclusive environment.
About the Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have additional needs, providing tailored support to help them thrive both academically and socially. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Providing one-on-one or small group support to pupils with SEND.
- Encouraging positive behavior and fostering a nurturing learning atmosphere.
- Supporting children’s social, emotional, and educational development.
- Collaborating with staff and parents to ensure pupils receive the best possible care and support.
This role offers the opportunity to join the school on a temporary basis through Teaching Personnel, with the potential to transition to a permanent contract after a successful probation period.
Key Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Professional or personal experience working with children with SEND or young children.
- A patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children with diverse needs.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive attitude and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
While formal qualifications are not essential, they are advantageous, and any relevant experience in education, childcare, or support work will be highly valued.
